Top attractions outside Barcelona – Part II

Catalunya en Miniatura

Catalunya en Miniatura is a wonderful place to spend with the family, a park hat presents a tiny version of Catalonia, through scale model replicas. There are more than 150 handcrafted models, including works of Romanesque and Gothic architecture and the works of one of Catalonia’s most important architects, Antoni Gaudí.

At Catalunya en Miniatura there is also the chance for adventure when visiting The Bosc Animat. There are 4 different circuits, each one designed for a specific age range.

Catalunya en Miniatura is located at Can Balasch de Baix close to the entrance of Torrelles de Llobregat, half an hour from the center of Barcelona.

If the idea of riding a horse on some of the most beautiful beaches of Catalonia attracts you, then you need to pay a visit to Costa Brava, where there are a variety of businesses that offer this activity. Try Panorama Trails, Catalonia Horse Trails at Sant Fruitós de Bages, Trek & Ride in Terrassa, or Quitación Can Janás at Vallés Oriental.

Marineland & Aqualand

Marineland is an aquatic zoo located an hour away from Barcelona, in which visitors can see animals like dolphins, sea lions, penguins and birds. Marineland also has a theme park called Aqualand in which people can ride a variety of attractions and water slides.

Marineland and Aqualand are located at Carretera Malgrat, at Palafolls.

Montserrat

Montserrat is a famous mountain located about an hour away from Barcelona. Visitors go to Montserrat usually to observe the mountain and the beautiful views or to venture into Montserrat’s natural park, which has five different walking paths. Other points of interest in Montserrat is the monastery and church, where thousands of peregrines go to pray, and Montserrat’s museums.

Museu de la Ciènca I de la Tècnica de Catalunya occupies an old fabric, a beautiful modernist building designed by architect Lluís Muncunill. The museum is located at Rambla d’Ègara 270 in Terrassa.
