Top attractions outside Barcelona

Illa Fantasia

Located in Vilassar de Dalt, about half an hour by car from Barcelona, Illa Fantasia is a popular water park that is open only during the Summer, between the months of June and September. There, visitors can spend a fun day, hopping from pool to pool and experiencing a variety of slides designed for people of all ages.

Butterfly Park Empuriabrava

One hour and forty-five minutes from the center of Barcelona you can spend a delightful day at Empuriabrava’s wonderful Butterfly ParkThis interactive park allows the visitors to observe the fauna from up close, by entering the 1000 m2 jungle-like greenhouse, where they can see a variety of butterflies and other animals like birds, lizards and small mammals.

Butterfly Park Empuriabrava is located at Calle Santa Clara 0, at Castelló d’Empúries in Girona.

PortAventura

An hour and twenty minutes away from the center of Barcelona, you can find PortAventura, a combination of resort, amusement park and aquatic park located at Costa Dorada. One of the most visited theme parks in Spain and the sixth most visited in Europe, PortAventura offers a variety of rides and attractions so visitors can spend several days of fun, with the possibility of staying at one of the park’s eight hotels.

Portaventura is located at Avinguda de l’Alcalde Pere Molas, at Vila-Seca, Tarragona.

Dalí Theatre-Museum

Occupying the ruins of the old Teatro Municipal de Figueres, Dalí Theatre-Museum was founded in 1974 by Salvador Dalí himself. The museum collects more than 1500 works by the artists, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and even holograms. The museum is considered today the largest surrealist object in the world.

Dalí Theatre-Museum is located at Plaça Gala i Salvador Dalí 5 in Girona, about an hour and a half away from Barcelona.

Fundació Mona

Fundació Mona is a rescue and rehabilitation center for abused primates who used to work as circus artist, film actors or even pets. At Fundació Mona, the animals receive physical and mental treatment and have the opportunity to live a new, happy life in a community. The foundation places great focus on educating the public about animal welfare and is open to visits from adults, families and schools.

Fundació Mona is located in Ruedellots de la Selva, Girona, about an hour from Barcelona.
