If you are looking for an authentic bar, then go to Bar La Plata. It still serves the same four tapas (fried fish, anchovies montaditos and butifarra and tomato salad with onions and olives) as when it was founded in 1945.
You can also try some of their exceptionally good wines, so don’t hesitate any longer and go visit La Plata.
Its visitors are tourists, but also locals, and there are anonymous, but also famous guests, like Ferràn Adrià, Daniel Brühl, U2’s Bono and Pau Donés de Jarabe de Palo.
They have all sat at one of the six tables at this charming restaurant in the Barrio Gòtic. La Plata is one of the best tapas places in Barcelona.
As you can read on the sign at the entrance, La Pineda opened its doors for the first time in 1930, and as you will see, its interior still looks the same as back then.
The entrance is small, full of botas de vino (leather wine skin bags) and cured meat products, and you can see canned food in the window.
The place works just like a shop, and there are 5 small tables with forged iron feet and marble tabletops. You can have any product here, that they also sell for you to take home.
This is without any doubt a most charming place, and the proof is in the number of people, especially tourists, who come here, even if it is only to have a look.
On the left in the back of the shop, there is a small bar where you can try different tapas and an aperitif. There are various salads, artichokes with anchovies, a seafood salad, stuffed tomatoes… it is all delicious and very much worth trying.

This bodega looks old and authentic, and they sell good quality products. Bodega Cala de Vermut is a traditional family business, and they take great care of every client by serving excellent tapas and drinks. They always give their best and anything you taste here is phenomenal.
This is the best place in Barcelona for vermouth, as it is authentic, homemade and accompanied by excellent service. Try their delicious ensaladilla rusa (Russian salad) and some of their wonderful anchovies.
At bar El Portalón they remember their traditions well, as they pay homage to traditional vermouth that was sold at bodegas and that neighbourhood people drank loyally on Sunday afternoons.
They serve an artisan red vermouth that matches some of their more traditional tapas perfectly. La Barra’s opening hours for vermouths (or breakfast) are from Monday to Sunday from 10.00 to 12.00 and you can have a meal there from Monday to Sunday from 12.30 to 23.30.
You will be served Spanish cuisine at Babia’s. Try the tavern’s traditional menu or their famous tapas, an amazing ham and extraordinary patatas bravas. Their delicious wine is a great accompaniment.
You will remember Taberna Babia for a long time after you have been there, as it is famous for its great service and super friendly staff, who is always ready to help.
Most of the dishes on the menu are reasonably priced, and the restaurant has a relaxed vibe with lovely decorations.
