If you are looking for an authentic bar, then go to Bar La Plata. It still serves the same four tapas (fried fish, anchovies montaditos and butifarra and tomato salad with onions and olives) as when it was founded in 1945.

You can also try some of their exceptionally good wines, so don’t hesitate any longer and go visit La Plata.

Its visitors are tourists, but also locals, and there are anonymous, but also famous guests, like Ferràn Adrià, Daniel Brühl, U2’s Bono and Pau Donés de Jarabe de Palo.

They have all sat at one of the six tables at this charming restaurant in the Barrio Gòtic. La Plata is one of the best tapas places in Barcelona.

La Pineda

As you can read on the sign at the entrance, La Pineda opened its doors for the first time in 1930, and as you will see, its interior still looks the same as back then.

The entrance is small, full of botas de vino (leather wine skin bags) and cured meat products, and you can see canned food in the window.

The place works just like a shop, and there are 5 small tables with forged iron feet and marble tabletops. You can have any product here, that they also sell for you to take home.

This is without any doubt a most charming place, and the proof is in the number of people, especially tourists, who come here, even if it is only to have a look.

On the left in the back of the shop, there is a small bar where you can try different tapas and an aperitif. There are various salads, artichokes with anchovies, a seafood salad, stuffed tomatoes… it is all delicious and very much worth trying.
