Have a Vermouth in Sant Antoni

Drinking vermouth is an old tradition that seems to be coming back to bars all over Barcelona. But in the capital of Catalonia, when someone says “Let’s have a vermouth!”, they’re not only inviting you for a drink – tapas, pinchos and a leisurely attitude are also part of the program. In the centre of Barcelona, in the Eixample district, the neighbourhood of Sant Antoni is one of the places where the tradition of drinking vermouth is coming back strong. Bar Calders

Of course, Tapantoni season is not the only time when you can have a vermouth in San Antoni – you can have one at Bar Calders, for instance. Combining the rustic environment of a traditional Catalan establishment with an Andalusian patio, it was named after the famous local poet Pere Calders, due to plenty of his books being part of the place’s decoration.

If you find yourself wanting a drink on any given Sunday afternoon, take a seat on this bar’s wide and fresh terrace. Ask for their famous homemade vermouth and pick something out of their varied menu of tapas and other dishes – how about some delicious curried potatoes or a guacamole? Or maybe some cheese bocadillos instead? There is a lot for you to choose from – even pizza! Definitely one of the best places to hang out with friends in San Antoni and taste a fine vermouth – so we suggest you forget about all your worries and let the afternoon embrace you at Calders.

Address: Carrer del Parlament, 25.
