Barcelona’s best waterfront restaurants

If like me, you love nothing more than sitting back with a view of the sea whilst enjoying a delicious meal, there are plenty of great options here in Barcelona. With some spectacular views of the Port, the beach or the city, here are some of Barcelona’s finest waterfront restaurants:

La Fonda del Port Olimpic

Where: Moll de Gregal, 7-10 (Metro: Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica)

First on my list is a vibrant seafood restaurant near the beautiful Port Olimpic. Opened in 1994, this spacious and bustling restaurant is well known for serving fresh seafood at affordable prices. Look out for their daily menu where you can enjoy a starter, main dish, and dessert for only €11 plus a drink for just €1.50 extra. They also offer affordable set menus in the evenings. The paella here is particularly popular and they also have a good selection of wine from the Penedes region in Catalonia for extremely reasonable prices.

Barraca Barceloneta

Where: Passeig Maritim Barceloneta, 1 (Metro: Barceloneta)

Located on Barceloneta’s sea front, Barraca is the perfect location for a relaxing meal along Barcelona’s beautiful coastline. The contemporary interior creates a cool and relaxing environment to enjoy the delicious food. The menu is based on local organic fresh produce, created by acclaimed Chef Xavier Pellicer, who has expertise and experience in traditional recipes of Catalan gastronomy. Prices might be high but so is the quality. Be sure to ask for a table along the side of the restaurant for a spectacular view of the beach.

Agua Restaurant

Where: Paseo Marítimo de la Barceloneta, 30 (Metro: Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica)

Part of the popular Tragaluz chain of restaurants, Agua is a modern seafood restaurant perfectly overlooking the Sant Sebastià Beach. Prices aren’t cheap with paella costing between 18 and 22 euros, but given the location you wouldn’t expect anything less. The food is fresh and simple and the restaurant itself has a relaxing and charming atmosphere – particularly on a summer’s evening. I had the grilled octopus which was perfectly cooked, washed down with a refreshing glass of cava sangria.

Can Sole

Where: c/San Carles, 4 (Metro: Barceloneta)

Founded in 1904, this authentic and old-fashioned restaurant is situated just a two minute walk from the sea. Whilst there are no tables with a waterfront view don’t let this put you off. The food is here is genuine catalan seafood – expect to find freshly prepared, delicious and locally sourced food. Unlike many of the restaurants that are closer to the water this place is far less touristy, and also less expensive. It has a great local atmosphere and the staff are always friendly and helpful.
