What to do in case of emergency in Barcelona?

It happens that we live in a city and we don’t know the phones we have to call in case we have an accident, a medical condition that requires urgent attention, if there’s is a fire at our house or a danger in different contexts. This requires quick reaction and for this we need to know where to go and what number to call. From ShBarcelona we put that information at your fingertips in this article so you can decide who to call in case of an emergency. In all police stations you can ask for an English speaker worker, but perhaps in other kind of phone services you have to ask the operator if they speak english.

Phone: 112 – Mossos d’Esquadra Emergency phone: This phone is useful in case of any emergency within Catalonia, from theft, accidents, assaults, fires to medical emergencies. It operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and it’s free. There they have operators in Catalan, Spanish, English, French and German, also for deaf people. The Mossos d’Esquadra are the security forces of the Generalitat of Catalonia, is like the Catalan police.

Phone: 080 – Firefighters: in case of fire or disaster that requires having to save people or any kind of property, are the firefighters who you have to call. Along with firefighters, maybe would come the ambulances and the police or Mossos d’Esquadra, in case there is somebody injured or situations that require attention by another authority.

Phone: 061 – CatSalut: in case of medical emergency by an accident or a physical condition that needs to be addressed quickly, the 061 is the number you should dial. They will ask you about the situation that requires their attention, and will send what requires every situation.

Phone: 092 – Guàrdia Urbana: is the police force of Barcelona and has various functions in the city, especially with regard to intervention in traffic accidents or in situations involving drivers of vehicles and safe mobility within the city. Barcelona is a city well known for its civility, the Guàrdia Urbana is responsible for ensuring this concept and also the public safety.

Phone: 091 – Policia Nacional: the Spanish National Police have their presence in Catalonia and Barcelona as an entity that ensures security and order in the city. They can respond in case of emergency and also handle issuing the ID and the passports of all citizens in police stations, as well as documentation for foreigners.

Phone: 062 – Guardia Civil: This state agency is also present in Barcelona with territorial and security functions affecting Spain and, specifically, Catalonia.
