Where to buy used books

Are you one of those people who devour books? Does your monthly budget keep getting stretched as your bookshelves keep filling up? If that is the case, maybe you should consider buying at secondhand bookstores. The lower prices practiced at most of these establishments will allow you to take home more, while spending much less.

Re-Read

Re-Read is a place where you can find a variety of used books in various different languages. The store also purchases books.

Re-Read offers excellent prices, selling one book for 3€, two books for 5€ and five books for 10€.

There are several Re-Read stores in Barcelona. You can find them at Passeig Sant Joan 152, C/ Muntaner 337, C/ Rosselló 158, C/ Londres 9, Gran via 564.

Hibernian Books

Hibernian Books is the only secondhand English bookshop in Barcelona. With a collection of over 40,000 books, the store offers everything from children’s books to antique novels.

The main focus of the store is the selling of used books, but they do have a couple of new books as well.

You can visit the store at Carrer Montseny 17 or browse and purchase your books online.

Libreria Anticuaria Studio

With more than 60 years of existence, Libreria Anticuaria Studio offers a wide selection of old books and rare books from the eighteenth to the twentieth century.  The store is also interested in buying small collections that contain important books.

You can check the books available at Libreria Anticuaria Studio on the website or visit the store at C/ Aribau 12, close to the Universidad Central de Barcelona.

Online

If you don’t have enough time to stop by the bookstores or simply haven’t found what you are looking for, why not using the secondhand websites?

Segunda Mano

Segunda Mano is one Spain’s most famous websites for the selling and buying of secondhand items. You can find anything from comic books, dictionaries and fiction to encyclopedias, study books and non-fiction. At Segunda Mano there are people selling single books or whole collections at very affordable prices.

Tip: Always check the photos of the items and if necessary ask for more photos taken from different angles. Never pay for an item without seeing it live. The way Segunda Mano’s purchases are supposed to work is for the customer to contact the seller and for both to meet in person so the customer can see the item up close and for direct payment in cash.

Iberlibro

Iberlibro is another good website to search for secondhand books. Unlike Segunda Mano, Iberlibro specializes in old, rare and strange books.

Iberlibro doesn’t have a physical store, so all purchase have to be made online.
