Where to get the best crepes in Barcelona

As one of the most versatile snacks which can be eaten with a salty or sweet filling, crepes have become popular all around the world. Barcelona has a number of restaurants dedicated to these lovely pancake-like treats.

Creps Barcelona

UntitledUntitledThis surprising franchise is the crème de la crème of crepes in Barcelona – it has been awarded a certificate of excellence from TripAdvisor and with good reason. With the feel of a minimalist but natural daytime bar, Creps Barcelona offers a whole host of delicious dishes, both sweet and savoury. Care is taken to perfectly cook simple but flavoursome and unusual crepes to restaurant quality, and if your company is not particularly in the mood for crepes, Creps Barcelona also offers non-batter-based selections such as goat’s cheese salad with strawberries and pine nuts. Another plus to sampling delicious crepes at this restaurant is that they serve everything from coffee to mojito’s to wash down your food – making it perfect for a snifter before going out, or as a special brunch treat (for which I would recommend the ham, egg and cheese crepe which is incredible). The food here is light, tasty and elegant set in a calm, pleasant atmosphere. Creps Barcelona is dotted all around the city so you’ll have no trouble finding one close by.

Creperie Bretonne Annaick Barcelona

If you are looking for somewhere a bit more funky and modern then Creperie Bretonne Annaick Barcelona may be more up your street. The crepes at this restaurant are a bit more rough and ready in the best way possible, the portions are also heavier making it a great place to meet for lunch or dinner. Creperie Bretonne Annaick Barcelona boasts a small but colourful diner style restaurant with bundles of character and soul, including roughly hand-painted ceilings and a converted bus to be served from. Here, you can sample heartier dishes such as the crepe de pollo, packed with chicken, cheese and mushrooms, along with the simple classics such as ice cream. This restaurant also serves a small range of cheap cocktails at around €5 a glass. The restaurant has a very fun and relaxed way about it and is a great place to meet friends for a few drinks and a bit of munching.

Belgious

If you’re a little less adventurous, or you have more of a sweet tooth then Belgious is yet another wonderful option. Belgious pride themselves in their crepe batter, only using the finest type 55 flour imported from France to create the lightest possible crepes. They also offer gluten-free batters and a special form of crepe they call a “crepita”. Crepita’s batter includes the addition of fresh yoghurt to create a different flavour and a fluffier texture. Belgious also do waffles, juices and shakes, but specialise in their variety of ice cream options. This food place has more of an ice-cream shop style with few tables, including a couple for dining al fresco and it’s great to turn into spontaneously on a hot, sunny day. It also stays open until midnight for a late night snack.

Creps al Born

As another option, if you really want to get your drink on and crepes are more of a side thought, Creps al Born offers a true bar environment with a huge selection of drinks and craft cocktails to complement your pancakes. This place has a real buzz so it wouldn’t make a great place to meet for lunch to catch up, but if you want a bit of a party with your friends then Creps al Born is your best bet. This bar only serves sweet options, but there’s a huge variety including cheesecake, the classic lemon and sugar, and a variety of jams.

Which take on crepes are you in the mood for?
