La Marina de Port is one of the neighbourhoods of the historic district of Sants Montjuïc. In the beginning it consisted of agricultural and livestock areas, but little by little it became more industrial and, well into the twentieth century, also residential. The proximity to the port has given it an eclectic character, due to the migratory boom from other Spanish provinces that took place in Barcelona, thanks to the industrialization of the Ciudad Condal. The neighbourhood is popular, mostly residential and its buildings are quite modern, compared to other older areas of the city. If you want to rent an apartment in La Marina de Port, you should know that the buildings are usually spacious, although you can also find some smaller apartments. The prices are not excessively high, compared to other areas of Barcelona, and it is an ideal neighbourhood for someone looking to live in a residential and affordable neighbourhood in Barcelona.
The neighbourhood of La Marina de Port is a neighbourhood with an agricultural and livestock past, which subsequently became an industrial district thanks to the large number of factories that began their activity in that area. Thus the neighbourhood became an area inhabited mostly by factory workers and, in this way, a residential neighbourhood was created. Subsequently, many Spanish immigrants came to Barcelona with the intention of prospering in an industrialized city, and many of them chose La Marina de Port to make it their home. The neighbourhood has all services and has been revitalized a lot, thanks to the area of the Fira de Barcelona 2, a series of pavilions in which different fairs and important events are held in the city of Barcelona. This has upgraded the neighbourhood, and new services have been created for visitors of the fairs, like restaurants, bars, hotels and shopping areas. The properties in the area are not excessively expensive, and are ideal for people who want to live in a residential area, but also close to shopping centers, such as the Gran Vía 2, located in the nearby Hospitalet de Llobregat. Apartments are usually spacious and sunny, although you can also find smaller apartments and even the low constructions, which are old buildings of the first inhabitants of the neighbourhood, who worked in the factories.
The neighbourhood of Marina de Port is a residential neighbourhood, quiet and for the working class. The changes that have been made in regard to infrastructure, designating a large area of the neighbourhood to one of the most important congress fairs in Barcelona, have made the neighbourhood increase services, and also new metro and bus lines have been created, to better connect the area with other areas of the city. Renting a house in the neighbourhood of La Marina de Port is an interesting option, if you are looking to live in a residential area, but close to shopping centers, such as the Gran Vía 2 complex, an area of large pavilions where the most important fairs of Barcelona are being held, and all at a relatively affordable price.
